Saving Energy

How You Can Help

Please e-mail your state Senator and ask him or her to support Senator O’Leary’s Energy Efficiency bill.

Summary

As the new legislative session got underway, Environment Massachusetts worked with a number of legislators and coalition partners to craft and file legislation that puts efficiency first, including Senator Robert O’Leary’s Act To Stabilize Energy Costs And Use And To Reduce The Commonwealth’s Affect On Climate Change (SD 1610), and Representative Tom Golden’s Act Relative to Updating Mass Energy Conservation Codes (HD 3360). In addition, Representatives Matt Patrick and Jim Marzilli filed an omnibus energy bill, the Energy, Climate and Economic Security Act. These bills should be heard before legislative committees as soon as this spring. Check back for more info including bill text.

Energy efficiency is the quickest, cheapest, cleanest way to start solving our energy problems. Saving energy through smarter appliances and better buildings should always be our first move, wherever energy policy decisions are made. Environment Massachusetts is working on several fronts to promote policies and practices that reduce energy consumption.
