The bottle bill is the state’s most successful recycling and litter prevention program. Since 1990, more than 15 billion containers have been redeemed, under the bill, contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment. But as consumers’ tastes change, the bottle bill must be updated to keep up with the times. The update would add un-carbonated beverages such as bottled waters, sports drinks, iced tea and other beverages and would increase the nickel redemption to 10 cents. Email your state representative and ask him or her to bring the bottle bill into the 21st century.Follow these 3 easy steps to help out.
