Ask Gov. Patrick to give Massachusetts the gift of parks this holiday season!
This holiday season Gov. Patrick has an opportunity to give future
generations a huge gift: a beautiful and well-maintained parks system.
Our state parks—whether they be an oasis of green space in our
neighborhood, or an expanse of wilderness where we can escape the
hustle and bustle of our day-to-day life and camp with friends or
family—are a big part of what makes Massachusetts a great place to live.
Decades
of neglect have left our parks in a sad state, but the good news is
that in the coming month, Gov. Patrick has a tremendous opportunity to
make a difference on this issue by ensuring that his environmental bond
bill includes enough money to make the fixes to our parks that have
been put off for too long.
He needs to hear from you about how important our parks are to the people of the state.
The text of the petition is below:
Dear Gov. Patrick,
One of the things that make Massachusetts such a great place to live is our system of state parks. Unfortunately, this amazing resource is in deep trouble.
Decades of neglect have left our parks in sad shape. This holiday season, I urge you to give to future generations in the commonwealth the gift of a lifetime—a beautiful, well-maintained parks system.
Our parks face a $1.2-billion backlog of much needed
maintenance. Please include enough funding to make up that backlog in
your environmental bond bill to restore our amazing parks over
the next decade.
Sincerely,
