Call your representative about the Safer Alternatives Bill

With our health at stake, we need to make sure our lawmakers hear from us—not just industry lobbyists—about the Safer Alternatives Bill.

Here’s what the Safer Alternatives Bill does:

  • It takes what should be common sense and makes it the law of the land: When a safer alternative to a dangerous chemical exists, replace it. The state will prioritize the most dangerous chemicals and help businesses make the transition.

  • And when there isn’t a feasible alternative yet? Well, that’s when we tap Massachusetts’ brainpower to help find one. By spurring the research and development that it will take to reduce dangerous and toxic chemicals, we can work to make products across America safer for our health and environment. And where better for this to happen than Massachusetts, with our high-tech, educated workforce and world-renowned universities and research institutions?

But unless our lawmakers hear from more of us, they mightnot be hearing all they need to know about this bill. And that could mean a bigsetback for a healthier, toxic-free tomorrow for Massachusetts.

Please call your representative at (617) 722-2000. This is the State House switchboard—tell them where you live and they'll help you get in touch with your representative's office.

Here's a sample message that you can leave:

"Please do whatever you can to make sure the House passes the Safer Alternatives Bill before you recess in July. This bill will do a lot to protect our health and environment by moving Massachusetts away from dangerous chemicals and toward safer, green alternatives."

Then, let us know you called by filling out this form.
